‘e For Me’: A Vision for the Future of Electric Mobility

The ‘e For Me’ strategy represents Maruti Suzuki’s vision for a holistic EV ecosystem, encompassing not only advanced electric vehicles but also a reliable and expansive charging network. According to the company, this initiative aims to provide a seamless EV ownership experience by addressing key concerns like charging convenience and maintenance.

Rahul Bharti, Chief Investor Relations Officer at Maruti Suzuki, emphasized the brand’s long-term commitment to electric mobility, confirming plans to launch one electric vehicle per year until 2031. By the end of FY31, Maruti Suzuki intends to have six new electric models on Indian roads.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Specifications and Features

The e Vitara, built on the HEARTECT-e platform, is designed exclusively for electric vehicles. The platform prioritizes a lightweight structure while incorporating high-voltage protection and compact overhangs, ensuring a spacious cabin without compromising on safety or performance.

Globally, the e Vitara is available with two battery options:

  • 49 kWh battery: Expected to deliver 142 bhp and 189 Nm of torque with a 2WD drivetrain.
  • 61 kWh battery: Capable of producing 172 bhp and 189 Nm of torque in 2WD form, while the 4WD variant with the same battery generates 300 Nm of torque.

While Maruti Suzuki has not yet confirmed the battery variants for India, industry experts anticipate a range of around 400 km per charge, making the e Vitara a formidable competitor in the growing EV market.

Competition in the Electric SUV Segment

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will face stiff competition from recently unveiled models like the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, and the Tata Curvv EV. With its focus on an India-specific design, robust performance, and competitive range, Maruti Suzuki is positioning itself as a strong contender in the electric SUV space.
