Xiaomi Pad 7 in for Review: High-End Features, Wider Availability

After making its debut in China back in October, the Xiaomi Pad 7 is finally expanding its reach, with India being the first market to welcome the tablet’s global launch. The model we have for review is the Indian unit, which boasts the same premium specifications and design as its Chinese counterpart.

Sleek Design, Premium Build

Xiaomi has gone for a minimalist, high-quality approach with the Pad 7’s design. The tablet features a sleek all-aluminum shell devoid of visible antenna lines, making it visually seamless and sturdy. At just 6.18mm thick and weighing 500g, the device is impressively slim and lightweight, ideal for on-the-go productivity.

Immersive Display with High Refresh Rate

On the front, the Pad 7 packs an 11.2-inch IPS LCD panel with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a sharp resolution of 3200×2136. The display supports a blazing 144Hz refresh rate for buttery-smooth visuals and claims a peak brightness of 800 nits, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor usage. Moreover, it supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision, enhancing content consumption with vibrant colors and deep contrasts.

A unique optional feature of the Pad 7 is a nano-texture display that offers a matte finish, reducing reflectivity by up to 65% and mimicking the feel of paper for improved readability. However, this feature is only available on select configurations, and our review unit lacks this coating.

Powerful Hardware for Seamless Performance

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Pad 7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. This configuration promises top-tier performance, whether for multitasking, gaming, or media consumption.

For optics, the Pad 7 features a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP ultra-wide front camera, perfect for casual photography and video calls. Additionally, the tablet offers a quad-speaker system with Dolby Atmos, delivering an immersive audio experience. Other standout features include an IR blaster and Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 2, designed to provide a smooth and intuitive user experience.

Powering the device is a large 8850mAh battery, which supports 45W Turbo Charging, ensuring minimal downtime between charges.

Productivity-Boosting Accessories

Xiaomi is also launching a range of productivity-oriented accessories alongside the Pad 7. The Focus Keyboard, which magnetically attaches to the tablet, comes with an integrated trackpad and adaptive backlit keys for enhanced usability in low-light environments. Meanwhile, the Focus Pen stylus offers 0g activation force, 8192 levels of pressure sensitivity, and ultra-low latency, making it ideal for digital artists and note-takers.
