Hyundai is set to expand its electric vehicle lineup in India with the launch of the highly anticipated Hyundai Creta Electric on January 17, 2025, during the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. This will mark the brand’s third electric vehicle offering in the country and the second in its current EV portfolio. The Creta Electric is poised to compete in the rapidly growing electric SUV segment against formidable rivals such as the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

Advanced Safety: Level 2 ADAS and 52 Standard Features

A key highlight of the Hyundai Creta Electric is the inclusion of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), making it one of the safest and most technologically advanced vehicles in its class. Level 2 ADAS features are expected to include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and more—enhancing both safety and driving convenience.

In addition to ADAS, Hyundai has confirmed that the Creta Electric will come equipped with 52 standard safety features, including:

  • Multiple airbags
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Hill Start Assist
  • Traction Control
  • Vehicle Stability Management (VSM)

Rivalry in the Competitive EV Segment

Upon its launch, the Hyundai Creta Electric will directly challenge popular models like the Tata Curvv EV, which has already garnered significant attention in the Indian market. It will also go head-to-head with the MG ZS EV, known for its robust performance and premium features, and the Mahindra BE 6, an eagerly awaited addition to Mahindra’s growing EV portfolio. Additionally, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will add further competition in this segment.

Hyundai’s Growing EV Presence in India

With the Creta Electric, Hyundai is aiming to strengthen its foothold in the Indian EV market, which has seen rapid growth in recent years. The company’s first EV, the Hyundai Kona Electric, laid the groundwork for its electric ambitions, while the Hyundai Ioniq 5, launched earlier, positioned the brand as a serious player in the premium EV space. The Creta Electric, however, targets a broader audience, combining Hyundai’s popular SUV platform with electric mobility.
