Kia India has achieved a new milestone, reporting its highest-ever yearly sales in 2024. The Korean automaker sold over 2.55 lakh vehicles in the last 12 months, a feat driven by the strong performance of its popular SUVs—Sonet, Seltos, and Carens. With its diverse lineup of six models, including electric vehicles EV9 and EV6, Kia has solidified its position as one of the leading automakers in India.
Sonet: Kia’s Best-Selling Star
The Kia Sonet, a sub-compact SUV, emerged as the brand’s top performer in 2024, outselling its larger sibling, the Seltos. With monthly sales averaging 10,000 units, the Sonet found more than 1.02 lakh customers across India last year. Its updated facelift version, launched early in 2024, quickly became a market favorite, offering a compelling mix of features and competitive pricing starting at ₹7.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Last week, Kia celebrated a milestone for the Sonet, announcing that the model reached one lakh sales within 11 months of its facelift launch, solidifying its dominance in the sub-compact SUV segment, where it rivals models like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, and Hyundai Venue.
Seltos and Carens: Strong Contenders
The Kia Seltos, positioned in the compact SUV segment, and the Carens, a recreational vehicle, ranked as the second and third best-selling models for the brand in 2024. The new Carnival, launched in October, also contributed to Kia’s sales momentum, with 563 units sold within just two months.
In addition to domestic success, Kia exported 25,404 vehicles to global markets last year, showcasing its international appeal.
The Road Ahead: Kia Syros to Drive 2025
As Kia gears up for 2025, it plans to maintain its growth trajectory with the launch of the Kia Syros, its third SUV for the Indian market. Unveiled last month, the Syros is set to enter the premium SUV segment. Bookings for the Syros open on January 3, with deliveries starting in February.
Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing at Kia India, expressed confidence in the new launch: “As we move into 2025, we are excited about the upcoming launch of the Syros, which promises to redefine the Indian automotive landscape. With this, we will set new industry benchmarks and reinforce our leadership position in the market.”
